Madrid Fault Rumbles as FEMA Makes Preparations

The following excerpt is from FEMA’s website and I quote, “199 years ago, the first in a series of catastrophic earthquakes rocked the Midwest along the New Madrid seismic zone.  Although the epicenter of the December 16th quake was in northeast Arkansas, the magnitude of the quake reportedly caused church bells to ring along the East coast…………a major earthquake in the New Madrid zone (of magnitude 6.0 or more) would severely affect Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.  Several other states would be affected, ranging from Minnesota to Florida.  It’s hard to imagine a natural disaster on that scale today. For this reason, FEMA is leading a national-level exercise in May of 2011 (NLE 2011) simulating a major earthquake along the New Madrid fault.  We’re bringing all the relevant team members to the table to make the exercise as realistic as possible-“

In May of this year Illinois is hosting a party, a get ready party, and it is big. The invites went out to Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee where for several days they will “play” disaster”. Now I by no means intend to be insensitive about disasters by using the word “play” but the skeptical mind envisions there could be more at hand than just a play exercise in preparedness.   If you check over on FEMA’s website for items ordered or being orders you will find the following;

1) Fuel -support is needed to provide mobile refueling in the event of a disaster to and within a 300 mile radius of mobilization areas, staging areas and other points of distribution within the states of NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TX, and LA. During a disaster the estimated daily quantity required for each state is 135,000 U.S. Gallons for diesel fuel and 24,000 U.S. Gallons for gasoline. The vendor will be required to maintain readiness capability and deliver within 24 hours notice.

2) Water –  the purpose of this Request for Information is to identify sources of supply for hydration in support of disaster relief efforts based on a catastrophic disaster event within the New Madrid Fault System for a survivor population of 7M to be utilized for the sustainment of life during a 10-day period of operations. Primary Container – The water shall be packaged in single-service –bottles with flat caps or similar packages suitable for water consumption.  Bottles shall be 1 liter in size; Now this works out to 210 million liters a day times the 7 days in the order for a total of 1,470,000,000 (yes that is a Billion)

3) MRE – Meals supply for meals in support of disaster relief efforts based on a catastrophic disaster event within the New Madrid Fault System for a survivor population of 7M to be utilized for the sustainment of life during a 10-day period of operations.   14M meals per day is the order. So..14 million meals times 10 days is also in the Billions of meals. At Gander Mountain these meals run 8-9 USD each. Assuming FEMA can get a volume discount of let’s say 50% that would be 4.50 UDS per meal times 14 million per day times 10 days equals a whopping …(well you do the math)

4) Blankets – The purpose of this Request for Information is to identify sources of supply for blankets in support of disaster relief efforts based on a catastrophic disaster event within the New Madrid Fault System for a survivor population of 7M to be utilized for the sustainment of life during a 10-day period of operations.   FEMA is considering the following specifications 14M blankets per day for 10 days.

5) Training– So we can have all these meals, water, blankets and people in need without trained staff to handle the operations. They are looking for qualified staffing also.

The list was extensively longer, but you get the idea, a large of amount of supplies for a training exercise and what’s up with the 7 million people figure? It is too much for a training exercise but if, possibly, just possibly they know something the rest of us don’t and they are preparing for the real thing, 7 million “survivors” is a low number for that wide of state area leaving me to wonder what the causality projections were? It took some digging, but I found the stats at IDEALS, which is a division of the University of Illinois and it reads as follows:

“The results indicate that Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri are most severely impacted. Illinois and Kentucky are also impacted, though not as severely as the previous three states. Nearly 715,000 buildings are damaged in the eight-state study region. About 42,000 search and rescue personnel working in 1,500 teams are required to respond to the earthquakes. Damage to critical infrastructure (essential facilities, transportation and utility lifelines) is substantial in the 140 impacted counties near the rupture zone, including 3,500 damaged bridges and nearly 425,000 breaks and leaks to both local and interstate pipelines. Approximately 2.6 million households are without power after the earthquake. Nearly 86,000 injuries and fatalities result from damage to infrastructure. Nearly 130 hospitals are damaged and most are located in the impacted counties near the rupture zone. There is extensive damage and substantial travel delays in both Memphis, Tennessee, and St. Louis, Missouri, thus hampering search and rescue as well as evacuation. Moreover roughly 15 major bridges are unusable. Three days after the earthquake, 7.2 million people are still displaced and 2 million people seek temporary shelter. Direct economic losses for the eight states total nearly $300 billion, while indirect losses may be at least twice this amount.”

So there is the number they are working with. Guess FEMA refuses to be on the back-end of a disaster this time.  Cindy Jacobs sent out an email a few weeks ago with a directive for the coming year, how to pray and what to expect. God never leaves us in the dark Is. 40:21 “The nation hangs in a balance and this is not a time to grow weary of praying and acting on behalf of righteousness and justice. Don’t let the pressure of the season cause you to retreat into entertainment rather than standing on top of what is happening around you. We must watch for terrorist attacks as many are having dreams and visions of coming attacks.” Then she says, “Are you ready to Rumble? The game is at hand and there needs to be a climax of history and the foundations are burning and are in danger of being destroyed. We must fast and pray and take extraordinary measure to “rumble” both the heavens and the earth. “

What does this mean? Expect the unexpected. Don’t look for God to move the way He did in the previous season because He is continually doing a new thing.  Abide in Him. Pray/Fast/Stand in Faith.
