Shifting Series #2

These are notes handed out at the meeting so if you can picture yourself setting there in the 3rd row back, listening intently, then Holy Spirit will move on your thoughts and imagination and fill in the blanks.

So what did the last season look like? How do we know it was a season and how do we know one changed? The Bible shows us “seasons” everywhere. There were 40 day seasons, 40 years, 400 years, 1000 years, 7 years with a shift at 3 1/2 years. On and on. Seasons are usually marked with a visible turning point. Sometimes this can be a trauma, other times a wound. (Someday I would like to do a study on these and what the difference is.) A season change can be marked by a death, a birth, an accident, bankruptcy, or health issues. But always, the season change can be seen with an event that shifts our whole atmosphere. I honestly believe because of the amount of change we deal with in our information society we have been “conscience seared” to some shifts until they are all over us and we go..what just happened?

The past season carried a powerful Word of Faith movement and a “hearing” anointing. This move caused us to be rooted and grounded deeply in the power of the Living Word. We became strong in faith and we grew and we grew and actually we became fat on the Word of God. (Now i mean no disrespect with that..lower the religious barrier. I simply mean we took in a lot of word and Most of the honest now..we did not put to action what we had taken in.) The book of Hebrews says we are becoming mature, rightly dividing the word of truth. This maturity is suppose to cause us to be able to discern good from evil and walk in the Spirit and not the Flesh. anyway..what I am saying here is that the season has shifted from the Word of Faith Movement into a Demonstration of the Spirit and His power.

Warning..don’t go off and say that I said we are no longer needing to base our lives in the Word or that it is not our foundation. The Word is the cornerstone of our lives and on it only should we build. We all know every move, every word spoken should be weighed and discerned by the Word of God. This season we are entering into is the one spoken of by Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:4 when he said, “and my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.” There are many who came up through the Word of Faith movement who will not shift into the new. They will remain in the past season. All i can say about that won’t be good for them.

So I promised to tell you how got here, and here is the end of a season of distress, which brought development. We believe, (we meaning Kelly my husband and I), that there are basically 4 stages of each season. The first stage being declaration when God sets for the plan. You can picture yourself standing on a mountain top and looking over at another mountain that God has just declared He is going to give you. Like Joseph when he received the dreams that his family would bow down to him. But in order to get to the end of the season or the Demonstration of that declaration you have just received requires two stages of distress and development which prepares you for your destiny.

So as we were entering the end of the Word of Faith Season God began pointing forward into the next season. Declarations were made of what He was doing and where He was pointing us as we were maturing. The ending of most “lessons” if you would, are marked with a test. The next scripture we looked at was 1 Peter 1:3-7.
